Our overall project goal is to reduce the infection rate and mitigate the spread of HIV/AIDS in Sierra Leone

Our main objectives are to strengthen the capacity of NAS for carrying out the SHARP effectively, to strengthen the capacity of NAS partners for implementing sustainable HIV/AIDS prevention and care activities, and to strengthen the coordinating capacity of NAS, its partners and the general public.

The unit's target are the staff of NAS, our implementing partners, and grantees. Our implementing partners include Civil Society Organizations, NGOs, CBOs etc, and our grantees are CCSI funded.

To achieve these objectives the unit carries out the following:

  • Assess the capacity development needs of project implementing partners and other stakeholders involved in HIV/AIDS activities. Specific requirements and skill needs are identified.
  • Develop comprehensive training packages and programmes relevant to identified needs.
  • Develop and conduct Training-Of Trainers (TOT) workshops at national and sub-national levels.
  • Assess the capacity development needs of NAS and develop appropriate training packages for meeting identified needs.
  • Facilitate regular monthly, quarterly programme meetings and annual reviews
